Introducing Socrates
Welcome!
Welcome to WinStar Customer Satisfaction. Socrates
is your online mentor, a friend who will give you a
guided tour of your new job and the
telecommunications industry.
Continuous Learning
Socrates might be the first training you get from
WinStar, but it won't be the last. WinStar is
committed to your development and continued growth.
As a Field Account Manager, you will participate in a
continuous learning process that will make you an
expert at your job and help you develop new and
diverse skills.
Learning with Socrates
Socrates is not like a traditional teacher,
looking over your shoulder to make sure you're doing
your work. Your mentor is here to give you guidance
and help you succeed.
Learning with Socrates requires that you:
- Play an active part in the learning
- Work independently or with little supervision
- Take responsibility for learning
- Keep track of your own results
- Learn what you need to learn
By following the guidance you receive from your
mentor, you will take the first step in your
continuous learning process. The goal is to give you
some tools and skills that you will help you quickly
become a productive contributor to Customer
Satisfaction.
Internet Explorer
Your mentor can't help you unless you use the
Internet Explorer browser. If you don't have Version
4.0 of Internet Explorer, now's the time to get it.
instructions for downloading it from Microsoft and
installing it on your pc. When you are asked what you
want to do with the file, choose Open this
file from its current location. When the
file appears in your browser, click on the printer
icon to print the file. Now you're ready to install.
As you travel through Socrates, you will notice
that a new browser window opens when you click on a
link that takes you away from Socrates and leads you
to a new site--WinStar University, for example. Be
sure to close the browser window by clicking on the
x in the top right corner of the
screen when you are ready to return to Socrates.
Otherwise, you'll end up with a lot of open windows
on your desktop!
